Moving on to Lesson 11 of Jamorama Book 2, you’ll find different deadening techniques, which can really add a more professional feel to chord progressions.
Lesson 12 introduces a new barre chord pattern and staccato strumming. There’s another jam track at the end, which you’re encouraged to try improvising over, as well as playing the chords as written. I think that learning to improvise early on is important, and it’s nice to see that it’s encouraged here, even though you haven’t learned much in the way of lead techniques yet.
